Abstract:  The issue of dementia is not a new matter, but if it is not managed, it can affect the health of the population and subsequently lead to increased dementia treatment costs. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the relationship between a healthy lifestyle and the risk of dementia among the elderly in the northern zone as a preparation for the aging nation in 2030. The study findings show that the majority of the elderly face chronic health problems and rely on caregivers. The results also found that the effects of a healthy lifestyle and social well-being can reduce the risk of dementia. Thus, to ensure the well-being of the elderly is maintained and to reduce dementia problems among them, the development of inclusive community programs, increasing health literacy, as well as physical, mental, and social well-being programs to maintain the quality of life need to be carried out. Cooperation from various parties is very important to ensuring that the quality of life for the elderly is maintained.

Abstract:  The qualitative data of this study was extracted from reflective journals of three respondents to understand their experiences, emotions, and narrative expressions. Modern lifestyles that blur the boundaries between career and personal life allow work demands to intrude into domestic space and threaten marital harmony. Manipulation and gaslighting tactics constitute emotional abuse that is deliberately chosen and systematically planned, where the normalization of lying within this family unit reflects a critical deficit in moral integrity. The socio-cultural ecosystem and societal stigma of a 'close-knit community' place moral burdens, such as family shame, relationships with relatives and neighbors, or the wife's duty to maintain the household, which worsens the trauma of betrayal and forces them to stay in toxic marriages. The micro impact of emotional infidelity (Office husband/wife) and the trauma of betrayal is no longer just a personal conflict or an isolated marital crisis. The macro impact of seeing the collapse of family institutions due to this emotional manipulation calls for structured public policy interventions to prevent the overall social fabric of society from breaking down.

Abstract:  Maternal mental well-being is a key determinant of overall family well-being. However, various modern challenges negatively impact mothers’ well-being and increase the risk of parental burnout. This study aims to examine the roles and involvement of mothers in family institutions, their perceptions of motherhood, the key challenges they face, and the current status of their mental health status. The study involved 3,988 Malaysian mothers aged 18 and above with children. Data were collected through an online survey in May 2024 using a convenience sampling method and analysed descriptively using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software. Findings indicate that mothers play a dominant role in doing housework (48.0%), managing children’s education (41.0%), ensuring daily needs are met (36.6%) and maintaining family health (34.8%). In terms of perception, most Malaysian mothers believe that being a mother today is more challenging than in the past. The primary challenges faced by mothers include the rising cost of living (80.0%), work-family imbalance (66.8%) and financial stress (58.9%). The study found that 32.2% of respondents reported experiencing depression due to these challenges, with 10.3% frequently feeling depressed. Additionally, only 16.6% of mothers felt that society truly understands the struggles they face. This study highlights the need for integrated interventions such as family-friendly policies, flexible work arrangements, and stronger social support to help mothers manage their mental well-being. These measures can alleviate maternal stress, contributing to family stability and overall societal well-being.

Abstract:  The aging population in Malaysia is increasingly becoming a concern. Although aging is a natural process, its effects can cause anxiety among individuals and the country if there is no strategic planning to address it, particularly in maintaining the well-being and improving the quality of life for the elderly. This study aims to identify key elements that ensure the quality of life and well-being of the elderly and analyze Islamic psychospiritual knowledge to help achieve these goals based on palliative care. The study also develops an Islamic Psychospiritual Therapy Manual for Elderly Well-being, which is applied through intervention and training (TOT) for caregivers/families. Data collection methods include literature review and fieldwork, while data analysis uses a mixed-method approach involving Richey and Klein's design and development study. This research will provide important data on the key elements that guarantee the quality of life for the elderly through field data collection (surveys, expert group discussions), and literature research will give valuable insights into psychospiritual elements in Islam that can help achieve this. Additionally, the developed manual for elderly well-being was content-validated by experts. This study also has the potential for widespread application, such as training elderly caregivers, whether working in hospitals, welfare homes, or within families, to better understand, meet the needs, and care for elderly individuals based on the therapeutic module focusing on spiritual, psychological, and cognitive aspects.
