Pembangunan model dan modul terapeutik berasaskan kaunseling untuk menangani gangguan orang ketiga dalam perkahwinan

Abstract: This study aims to develop a therapeutic model and module based on family counseling to address third-party interference in marriages in Malaysia. Using a qualitative approach through semi-structured interviews with 17 couples and three expert counselors, the study identifies contributing factors to the interference, its effects on the well-being of couples and families, as well as the therapeutic elements needed in the intervention. The findings of the study produced the Marital Relationship Interference Cycle Model (KGHP) and the K.A.S.I.H Intervention Model, complete with the K.A.S.I.H Therapeutic Counseling Module, a module that tackles third-party interference in a structured, integrative, and culturally sensitive way to Malaysia.

Abstract: This study aims to identify typologies of reproductive decisions, examine the factors that influence the decision to live without children, compare levels of Parenting Fear of Missing Out (Parenting FOMO), Freedom Glow, and socio-cultural pressure according to reproductive decision typologies, as well as explore the emotional experiences of individuals living without children. Economic factors are the main factors influencing reproductive decisions, followed by career, autonomy, health, and life aspirations. The Childless by Condition group recorded higher levels of Parenting FOMO and socio-cultural pressure, while the Childfree by Choice group showed higher levels of Freedom Glow.

Abstract: The increase in divorce rates, especially among young families, has had significant implications on psychological, social, and economic well-being, and calls for more systematic, contextual, and evidence-based counseling interventions. This study aims to develop the WITAJ Comprehensive Pre- and Post-Divorce Counseling Model, which integrates prevention (wiqayah), needs analysis (tahlil), and recovery (‘ilaj’) elements in addressing divorce issues in Malaysia. The study successfully produced two counseling models, two intervention guidelines, and valid and reliable pre- and post-divorce screening instruments. Significantly, the WITAJ model contributes to the development of a holistic, integrative, and contextual counseling intervention framework, with the potential to strengthen professional counseling practice and evidence-based family policy development in Malaysia.

Abstract: This study aims to develop a Crisis Loss Counseling Model for individuals in the pre- and post-divorce phases. It identifies coping strategies, resilience levels, experiences of loss crises, and counseling intervention needs among people facing divorce issues. The findings show that clients tend to use adaptive coping strategies more than maladaptive ones, while resilience is at a moderate level. Integrating the study's findings resulted in a comprehensive model consisting of six main phases: initial screening, relationship building and session structuring, issue exploration and crisis assessment, intervention, support, and post-divorce adjustment. The model's validity was tested using the Fuzzy Delphi method and has the potential to serve as a systematic, phased, and responsive guide for crisis counseling interventions in the context of handling divorce in Malaysia.

Improving Marriage Tribunal Framework and Practices

Abstract: This study looks at the effectiveness of the Marriage Tribunal system for non-Muslim couples in Malaysia and suggests an evidence-based framework to improve its mediation practices. Although the tribunal operates as a mandatory pre-divorce reconciliation mechanism, concerns have been raised about procedural efficiency, professional capacity, and overall effectiveness in the reconciliation process. The study proposes a four-pillar framework consisting of structure, process, practitioners, and performance, along with an Integrated Tribunal Model that introduces a structured, triage-based approach to mediation. This model combines systematic assessment, tailored intervention pathways, and output-based evaluations. Overall, the findings show that while the Marriage Tribunal system has a strong institutional foundation, targeted reforms are needed to enhance its effectiveness, consistency, and responsiveness to the complex psychosocial dynamics of marital conflict.

Improving the Marriage Tribunal Process for the Urban Non-Muslim Using Qualitative Research

Abstract: This study was conducted to suggest improvements to the Marriage Tribunal process for non-Muslim couples living in urban areas, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, through collaboration between LPPKN and the National Registration Department. The study's findings show that the Marriage Tribunal process has quick appointment scheduling, reasonable service costs, professional staff, and follow-up support. However, the Tribunal process faces challenges and constraints such as a lack of clear procedures, high emotional stress among petitioners and respondents, language and communication barriers, and short session durations. The study results indicate that improvements to the Marriage Tribunal process need to be implemented, including providing clearer guidelines at all stages—before, during, and after the tribunal process, digitizing administrative and management processes, continuous training, mental health support for officers involved in proceedings, as well as strengthening counseling, legal, and referral support for couples.

Abstract: The qualitative data of this study was extracted from reflective journals of three respondents to understand their experiences, emotions, and narrative expressions. Modern lifestyles that blur the boundaries between career and personal life allow work demands to intrude into domestic space and threaten marital harmony. Manipulation and gaslighting tactics constitute emotional abuse that is deliberately chosen and systematically planned, where the normalization of lying within this family unit reflects a critical deficit in moral integrity. The socio-cultural ecosystem and societal stigma of a 'close-knit community' place moral burdens, such as family shame, relationships with relatives and neighbors, or the wife's duty to maintain the household, which worsens the trauma of betrayal and forces them to stay in toxic marriages. The micro impact of emotional infidelity (Office husband/wife) and the trauma of betrayal is no longer just a personal conflict or an isolated marital crisis. The macro impact of seeing the collapse of family institutions due to this emotional manipulation calls for structured public policy interventions to prevent the overall social fabric of society from breaking down.
