Penambahbaikan Indeks Kesejahteraan Keluarga Malaysia (IKK): berasaskan data LPPKN

Abstract: This study aims to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the existing IKK and to suggest strategic improvements that are more responsive and inclusive. The study uses a mixed-method approach, involving secondary analysis of FWI data from 2011-2022, systematic literature review, in-depth interviews with seven expert informants, and a comparative analysis with international wellbeing indices. To address the issue of score instability, the study proposes a strategic shift from purely subjective measurement to the integration of Administrative Data (objective) such as JKM aid statistics, PDRM crime indices, and local authority infrastructure data as triangulation agents. The study also recommends conducting Local Situation Analyses, Longitudinal Panel Studies, and pilot studies of new instruments before full implementation.

Abstract: Population Dynamics of Perlis – With a small demographic scale and a population of around 297,800 people, even small changes in birth rates or migration have a big impact on the age structure. There's also the phenomenon of out-migration, where young people leave to look for career opportunities in more developed states, leaving an increasingly older community in Perlis. The aging process is speeding up because the combination of a low Total Fertility Rate (TFR) and youth migration causes the elderly dependency ratio to rise faster. Perlis is at risk of being one of the states to age earlier in Malaysia if there are no long-term strategic interventions. Some suggested policies and strategic directions include Perlis population policy, which is about integrating fertility, migration, and aging issues into the state's development planning.

Abstract: In conjunction with the 2026 Mother's Day celebration themed “As Strong as a Mother's Love,” the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (MWFCD), through the National Population and Family Development Board (NPFDB), conducted an online public opinion survey from May 10 to 31, 2026. A total of 3,311 respondents, consisting of Malaysian mothers aged 18 and above who have children, participated in this survey.

Population growth and health impacts of climate change

Abstract: Population growth has intensified the nation’s vulnerability to the health impacts of climate change. The demand for water, food, energy, and healthcare services increases as the population increases, placing pressure on natural resources and infrastructure. Climate change resulted in increased prevalence of vector-borne diseases (e.g., dengue and malaria), water- and food-borne infections, respiratory diseases associated with air pollution and haze, and heat-related morbidity and mortality, thus increase the demand for healthcare services. Conclusion, population growth intensifies vulnerability to climate-related health impacts, placing greater demands on public health systems. Strengthening adaption strategies, enhance surveillance system, and intersectoral collaboration is essential to ensure a resilient health system capable of protecting communities in a changing climate.

Abstract: In conjunction with the 2025 World Population Day Celebration themed 'Empowering Young People to Shape the Families They Want in a Just and Hopeful World”, the National Population and Family Development Board (NPFDB) conducted an online public opinion survey from July 1 to August 30, 2025, to understand the aspirations, obstacles, and hopes of the community regarding the desire to have children. A total of 3,625 respondents, consisting of Malaysian citizens aged 18 and above, participated in this survey, including 2,627 married respondents (men: 932; women: 1,695) and 988 single respondents (men: 380; women: 618).

Abstract: Population aging is a global phenomenon in which the number of elderly people contributes to a large part of the total population of a country. This scenario will occur when the birth rate decreases, the mortality rate stabilizes in line with advancements in healthcare services, and consequently, the life expectancy of the population in a country increases. Globally, we have reached an aging society where the growth of the elderly population exceeds that of the working-age population. An aging population impacts the reduction of productive labor; changes in the economic structure; increased government financial expenditure; pressure on the healthcare system; changes in social and demographic structures; and the preservation of culture and traditions.

Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM),
through the National Population and Family Development Board
(LPPKN), conducted an online public opinion survey to assess the
knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) of women in Malaysia
regarding cervical cancer. The survey was carried out from 23
January to 17 February 2025. A total of 3,050 respondents, Malaysian
women aged 18 and above, participated in the survey.
