| Abstract |
The growth of the older population, namely those aged 65 and above, is one of the significant demographic trends worldwide. It stems from low birth rates; increased life expectancy and a decline in total fertility rate (TFR). In Malaysia, the number of elderly people (aged 65 and above) is 2.6 million or 7.7% of the total population, while in Perak, the number of elderly people is 254.2 thousand or 9.9% of the total population. Aging impacts healthcare, social and economic structures. |
