Abstract: Bayesian Probabilistic Modelling provides a more accurate, flexible and probability-based method of fertility rate projection. This method is not limited to a single projected value, but produces probability distributions and confidence intervals (80%/95%) for various future scenarios. This approach is widely used by the United Nations (UN DESA) for global and national population projections. It allows policymakers to assess risks, uncertainties and policy impacts more comprehensively than deterministic methods. As a national agency that advises the Government in the field of demography and population, LPPKN is recommended to adopt the Bayesian method to improve the accuracy and reliability of the country's fertility rate projections and support long-term planning related to population and family

Abstract: In conjunction with the 2025 World Population Day Celebration themed 'Empowering Young People to Shape the Families They Want in a Just and Hopeful World”, the National Population and Family Development Board (NPFDB) conducted an online public opinion survey from July 1 to August 30, 2025, to understand the aspirations, obstacles, and hopes of the community regarding the desire to have children. A total of 3,625 respondents, consisting of Malaysian citizens aged 18 and above, participated in this survey, including 2,627 married respondents (men: 932; women: 1,695) and 988 single respondents (men: 380; women: 618).

Abstract: The Sixth Malaysian Population and Family Survey (MPFS-6) 2024 is the sixth study in a series of surveys conducted by the National Population and Family Development Board (NPFDB) since 1974. This study aims to provide up-to-date information and time-series data related to population, family, and reproductive health of the Malaysian population. The MPFS-6 fieldwork was conducted from August 28, 2024 until February 28, 2025.

Abstract: Malaysia's poverty statistics show a total of 295,706 households, consisting of 295,256 poor households and 450 hardcore poor households. The government plays a role in terms of policy formulation, provision of aid, social protection, job offerings, income improvement, education/human capital, and infrastructure/housing. Sejahtera MADANI is one of the initiatives for public welfare.

Abstract: The rapid decline in fertility rates accelerates the country's aging process. The country is potentially facing population shrinkage by 2072. The country is expected to reach the status of an "Aged Nation" by 2030. The rapid aging process will become a challenge if the country's income is insufficient. The country will experience a contraction in the labor force. High productivity needs to be the main driver of the country's economic growth after 2027. Interventions to stop the decline in fertility rates need to be implemented.

Abstract: Population aging is a global phenomenon in which the number of elderly people contributes to a large part of the total population of a country. This scenario will occur when the birth rate decreases, the mortality rate stabilizes in line with advancements in healthcare services, and consequently, the life expectancy of the population in a country increases. Globally, we have reached an aging society where the growth of the elderly population exceeds that of the working-age population. An aging population impacts the reduction of productive labor; changes in the economic structure; increased government financial expenditure; pressure on the healthcare system; changes in social and demographic structures; and the preservation of culture and traditions.

Abstract: In conjunction with the celebration of World Population Day 2025 at the Perlis state level, the Perlis State of National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN) in collaboration with the Perlis State Government, the Perlis State Women's Development and Social Welfare, Unity and Environment EXCO Office and Universiti Malaysia Perlis organized the Perlis State Population Seminar at Universiti Malaysia Perlis, Perlis on 11 August 2025. The theme of the Perlis state level World Population Day celebration this time is "Perlis Population: Small State, Big Aspirations". Also held at this celebration was the Population Forum titled "Empowering Young People to Form the Families They Want in a Fair and Hopeful World". Four (4) working paper presentations were also presented, namely socio-economic, health and family issues.

The theme of the Penang State World Population Day celebration this time is “Population Demographic Changes: Impact, Challenges and Opportunities for the State of Penang”. Also held at this celebration was the Population Forum entitled “Elderly Friendly Community: Empowering the State of Penang to Face an Aging Population”. Three (3) working paper presentations were also presented, namely demographic issues, reproductive health and fertility.

The theme of the Terengganu State World Population Day celebration this time is "Empowering Young People to Form the Families They Want in a Fair and Hopeful World". Also held at this celebration was the Population Forum entitled "Building a Harmonious Family in Terengganu". Two (2) working paper presentations were also presented, namely the issue of marriage and divorce.
